Thrill Hills is a family-run ski and tubing hill nestled right here in Fort Ransom, ND.
Our mission is simple: create a place where families, friends, and winter-lovers can laugh, play, and build memories together.
From our early tow-rope days to our newest tubing lanes, we’re proud to offer a fun, safe, and inviting experience for guests of all ages.
Whether you’re riding the slopes, booking a birthday party, or warming up between runs — Thrill Hills is all about good vibes, fresh air, and true North Dakota winter fun.
Bear’s Den Mountain began life in the 1960s as Fort Ransom Ski Area — a modest hill where local families found snow, slopes, and winter fun. In the 1990s it became Bear’s Den Mountain, carrying on decades of memory and winter tradition.
Over time, though, things slowed down. By 2013, lifts had shut down and the resort closed. But the memory of that hill — and what it meant to the community — never faded.
In 2019, a group of locals who grew up skiing those runs stepped in. Bolstered by childhood memories and a love for North Dakota winter, they bought the old resort property, ready to breathe new life into its slopes.
Their first winter back — it was all tubing. Families on snow tubes, laughter echoing down the lanes, and the hope of more to come. Then, as the lifts were rebuilt and the terrain renewed, skiing and snowboarding returned — and with it, a revived legacy.
With a nod to history and a promise for the future, Thrill Hills was born — reviving the name once envisioned long ago, and giving the region a winter destination built by locals, for locals.
